2023 marked Wanderful’s 10-year birthday! As a Wanderful hub leader here in Rochester, it was my duty to celebrate local, and what better place to host the party than Irondequoit Beer Company.
If you don’t already know, Wanderful is a network of women who love to travel. We have “hubs” worldwide, and I’m the founder of the one right here in Rochester, NY. The idea of this organization is so that no matter where you travel, you can find someone you know. And each of our hubs’ goals is to tour our own cities together with other amazing women.
Check it out and see if you have a hub near you!
Ok, back to business! The purpose of this blog post is not only to give a shout-out to the fantastic Irondequoit Beer Company (IBC) and their incredible job hosting the birthday party but also to mention why it’s a local favorite for the hubby and me.
IBC is in the heart of Irondequoit, the town Shane and I are currently living in. A town off the coast of Ontario Lake, home to one of the oldest amusement parks in the US, with beautiful places to walk to enjoy the best of both worlds (water and woods). Where IBC stands was once a quaint little barn where a farm existed long ago that has been empty for years. They gave this barn new life and turned it into a beautiful brewery and restaurant.
Now you can come to visit IBC for delicious food, live music, crafted brews, and great conversation. We love this brewery because it’s not just for beer lovers. C’mon, you know what I mean. For people like me who enjoy a cocktail or a refreshing cider, not necessarily beer. A foodie at heart who just wants to see what’s new on the menu to try. There are plenty of times when we’ve gone to breweries together and there’s simply nothing exciting on the menu for me, a non-beer drinker, so the fun is mainly for him. IBC has made it for everyone to enjoy, beer lovers or non.
I must say though, for a non-beer drinker, their sour beer is quite delicious. I’ll order that depending on my mood. My usual go-to when they have it on their “cold weather” menu (yes, their menu changes with the seasons) is the hot apple cider mixed with Iron Smoke Distillery’s maple bacon whiskey. (Iron Smoke deserves their own blog post in the near future!)
As for food, I had mentioned their menu changes with the seasons and their food is no exception. We go to IBC about 1-2 times every quarter (which is a lot for us to frequent a specific place) and their menu is different every time. Regardless, I always find things that I enjoy! A few favorites to mention is obviously a sandwich with anything brie and jelly on it (my kryptonite). Their wings are delish as are their veggies burgers. Cajun fries are a must as a side. I’m drooling just writing this.
Not only is it a brewery for every person, but also for every dog. We were shocked when we took our Olde English Bulldog, Nova to drink with us on the patio. The staff were so accommodating, they rushed to greet her and give her water as soon as we sat down. Everyone was so friendly and excited we had a dog with us, it made us (and Nova) feel very welcome.
So, whether you are wanting to sit with a cold beer on the patio and watch live music, host a party upstairs in the loft, or enjoy delicious food and great conversation, Irondequoit Beer Company is the way to go when visiting Irondequoit!
